The Austrian-African Research Network Africa-UniNet was initiated by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Women, Science and Research (BMFWF) and launched by the OeAD and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). Its objective is to create a long-term, stable basis for cooperation between Austrian and African universities and research institutions and to provide opportunities for joint research projects. Funding is awarded in calls: in the framework of the 6th call, 20 cooperative research projects between institutions in Austria and in African countries were accepted for funding. Africa-UniNet is funded by the BMFWF.

Aktion Austria-Czech Republic (Outgoing) New

The Aktion Austria-Czech Republic supports scientific exchange between Austria and the Czech Republic and the learning of the neighbouring country's language. It awards scholarships for stays in the Czech Republic to prepare diploma, doctoral or habilitation theses, and scholarships for research or teaching stays for university lecturers. Anyone studying or working at an eligible institution in Austria may apply; there is no age limit. Stays last 1 to 5 months depending on the target group.

ASEAN-European Academic University Network (ASEA-UNINET) New

The ASEAN-European Academic University Network supports the exchange of knowledge between partner universities in Europe and South East Asia. Its main activity is the organisation and financial support of transcontinental exchange of (prospective) scientists. It funds bilateral and multilateral projects in research, research-led teaching and the arts; projects run for up to 24 months and a single mobility lasts from a few days to 3 months. At least one ASEA-UNINET member university in Austria has to be the lead partner and one in the ASEAN country the cooperating partner.

A multilateral exchange programme with central, eastern and south-eastern Europe: students and teaching staff apply for a funded stay in one of the participating countries. Mobility happens within networks at faculty and institute level; outside a network, freemover stays are possible in individual cases. Stays from three days (excursions) to ten months are funded.

The Eurasia-Pacific Uninet (EPU) was established in 2000 to create an educational network for universities and universities of applied sciences in Austria and educational institutions in East Asia, Central Asia–Caucasus and South Asia–Pacific. The ministry-funded programme supports application-oriented cooperation projects between Austrian higher education and research institutions and institutions in countries of the Global South.
