ERC Advanced Grants

Long-term funding for established, leading principal investigators with a track record of significant research achievements who want to pursue a ground-breaking, ambitious project. Applications can be made in any field of research: the ERC's grants operate on a bottom-up basis without predetermined priorities. Up to €2.5 million for a period of 5 years, plus up to an additional €1 million for eligible start-up costs for researchers moving from a third country, major equipment, access to large facilities or other major experimental and field work costs — the additional funding is doubled to €2 million for principal investigators moving from a non-associated third country to the EU or an associated country. The research must be conducted at a host institution in an EU Member State or associated country; a single principal investigator submits the application on its behalf and can employ team members of any nationality.
