DGPuK's Dissertation Award Award
DGPuK
Communication sc.
The German Communication Association awards its Dissertation Award every two years, endowed with €3,000. Winners are chosen from outstanding dissertations that make an important contribution to communication and media research. Eligible are dissertations — cumulative ones included — in German or English that were submitted and assessed at universities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and whose doctoral procedure was completed no more than two years before submission. Works may be put forward by the candidates themselves or by their supervisors.
Next deadline: unclear
Deadline: Every two years at the annual conference. The page contradicts itself about the next year: it states both “the next award is planned for 2024” and “the next Dissertation Award will be given in 2028”. Both sentences are on it today; the page does not say which one holds. It names no submission date either.
Funding amount: € 3.000
Target group: Authors of outstanding dissertations in communication and media research submitted and assessed at a university in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. The prize is called internally within the DGPuK: only DGPuK members, or doctoral candidates of DGPuK members, may submit. No membership is needed to read the call, but membership is needed to apply.
